What is the FAA Drone Symposium and why should I attend?

The FAA Drone Symposium is an in-person, 1.5 -day symposium allowing attendees to engage directly with FAA officials and drone industry stakeholders. The program includes keynote addresses, and panel discussions, as well as networking breaks that will allow attendees to connect with their peers and FAA leadership to discuss policy and technology issues that are needed to enable expanded drone operations.

When does this event take place?

The 2023 FAA Drone Symposium will take place on Tuesday, August 1, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET and Wednesday, August 2, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM ET.

Who attends the FAA Drone Symposium?

The FAA Drone Symposium brings enterprise drone operators and commercial and recreational remote pilots face-to-face with the regulators who are enabling drone integration into the National Airspace System. The Symposium is an unrivaled opportunity to learn, train and troubleshoot with the entire drone community to ensure your operations remain safe and grow along with regulations.

How much does it cost to attend the FAA Drone Symposium?

Registration for the FAA Drone Symposium is listed below, with special rates available for Government, Military, and Public Safety professionals, as well as students. There is special bundle pricing for registrants attending both the FAA Drone Symposium and the AAM Summit being held August 2-3.

Why is there a registration fee to participate?

Registration fees are necessary to produce a high-quality and productive event and reflect the resources required to support the planning and management of the Symposium. The Symposium is 1.5 days of programming to educate and inform stakeholders throughout the drone industry about the rules, regulations, and best practices for operating safely and securely in the airspace. Refreshments will be provided for registered attendees.

Do FAA employees attend the Symposium and pay the same fees?

Federal laws and Presidential directives in place since Fiscal Year 2012 require agencies to control and report on the costs associated with conferences and meetings. The conference event package for the FAA Drone Symposium authorizes 90 FAA employees to attend the event. This number excludes speakers and staff assigned to work specific elements of the event. The FAA will pay a government rate for each of these employees using funding allocated to the employee’s line of business or staff offices. Employees were selected by their line of business or staff office. Employees not selected can pay the registration fee using personal funds and be in leave status.

Does anyone attend the Symposium at no charge?

Everyone attending the Symposium must pay the registration fee. Discounted rates have been established for the following categories: Government, Military, Public Safety, Educators, and Students. Contractors do not qualify as government employees and must pay the Industry rate.

There is no deadline to register, though the best pricing to attend is available at the Early Bird rate until June 25, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET.
